It was back in 2002 when I learned my way around the internet and was also looking for a life partner or soul mate. Having the lifestyle and beliefs I had I knew this would pose a few difficulties. I joined an international dating site and paid for a one month membership that cost me about 20 bucks.
I met a few girls before my membership quickly expired, and we corresponded for a few months. But things just didn't work out. One of them even seemed to want to meet a rich American man and when money issues were raised the relationship quickly faltered and failed.
In the mean time I had been posting on a public forum when in December 2002 I noticed a post by Lisa asking for advice on a certain spiritual experience. I answered her post as I normally would with anyone. But I also felt something there as well. Then again, I was searching for a soul mate at the time.
Lisa and I became friends quickly and began emailing each other, then talking on the phone. In fact Lisa helped me break my old record of 3 hours on the phone. The first night we talked for nearly 5 HOURS!
We met for the first time when Lisa flew up to Alaska from Oregon in April 2003. She moved to Alaska in May. We got married in March 2004. We are expecting our first child in December this year.
Bottom line is that we met on a forum, not a regular dating site. That's why we think the forum is a good idea!
